About the Job:
IPA is seeking a Project Associate - Yale Savings and Payments Research Fund (SPRF). S/he will play an integral role in the successful implementation and management of one of two research funds dedicated to understanding how poor families manage their financial portfolios and transactions, and evaluating new products and delivery channels that can improve the delivery and usage of welfare-enhancing financial products among the poor. S/he will work closely with the Yale Savings and Payments Research Fund team, under the lead of the fund’s project manager. The position is based in New Haven, CT.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  •     Vet research development opportunities, especially around the key research questions promoted by the fund;
  •     Work closely with the project manager to develop new research projects under the fund;
  •     Draft notes and proposals that synthesize research results and identify future research gaps;
  •     Manage project reporting and activity tracking for all fund projects;
  •     Support the SPRF project manager in overseeing ongoing projects under the fund;
  •     Assist in the set-up phase for new research projects;
  •     Assist in the wrap-up phase of completed research projects;
  •     Support team members in the preparation and management of the procedures through which projects are proposed, vetted, designed, and implemented.

Qualifications:

  •     Bachelor’s level degree in Economics, Social Sciences, Public Policy, or related fields;
  •     Experience in development/development research. Experience in microfinance sector preferable;
  •     Experience in the design and management of randomized controlled trials and other research methods a plus;
  •     Demonstrated project management skills, including budgeting, attention to operational and research details, and ability to manage multiple projects efficiently;
  •     Fluency and excellent communication skills in English. Fluency in Spanish a plus;
  •     Strong analytical skills a plus. Familiarity with STATA and other statistical analysis software a plus;
  •     Willingness to travel frequently if needed.
