About the Job:
Accion East and Online is seeking a Bilingual Loan Operations Intern. S/he will work closely with the Accion loan consultants to complete and analyze the loan application. From the beginning of the micro lending process, s/he will assist in document collection and loan analysis gaining valuable knowledge about domestic microfinance. This unpaid internship based in Miami is from September 2013 until December 2013.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Work with loan consultants (LC) to compile complete loan packages;
- Work with LC on plan to increase document collection process efficiency;
- Input and prequalify applications if intake department is at capacity, collect/arrange loan documents, verify scorecard, screen application, and create file folders in client drive;
- Alert LC of missing documents, preliminary questions, and distinctive situations;
- Alert LC of new clients and when additional documents have been received;
- Create an initial LAP after all documents are collected (for review/revision by LC);
- Compile completed packages and attach to edge. Include detailed notes in client file for LC review.
Qualifications:
- Bilingual English-Spanish required;
- Background in Finance preferred;
- Detail oriented and punctual;
- Good computer skills;
- Ability to multitask and meet deadlines;
- Commitment to the field of microfinance and Accion;
- Knowledge of loan operations and/or small business a plus.
