Accion East and Online is a member of the U.S. Accion network. It is a nonprofit microfinance organization that provides lending and financial education to entrepreneurs nationwide. It helps local businesses and communities grow by driving job creation and retention with each microloan.
About the Job:
Accion East and Online is seeking Bilingual Loan Operations Intern. They will work closely with the Accion loan consultants to complete and analyze the loan application. From the beginning of the microlending process, interns assist in document collection and loan analysis gaining valuable knowledge about domestic microfinance. These unpaid internships based in Boston, Massachusetts are from September 2013 until December 2013.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Work with loan consultants (LCs) to compile complete loan packages;
- Work with LC on plan to increase document collection process efficiency;
- Input and prequalify applications if intake department is at capacity, collect/arrange loan documents, verify scorecard, screen application, and create file folders in client drive;
- Alert LCs of missing documents, preliminary questions, and distinctive situations;
- Alert LC of new clients and when additional documents have been received;
- Create an initial LAP after all documents are collected (for review/revision by LC);
- Compile completed packages and attach to edge. Include detailed notes in client file for LC review.
Qualifications:
Two internships available:
One internship: fluency in English/Brazilian/Portuguese required;
One internship: fluency in English/Spanish required.
Excellent written and oral communication skills;
Commitment to the field of microfinance and Accion;
Knowledge of loan operations and/or small business a plus.
