About the Job:

Opportunity Fund is seeking a Savings Program Coordinator. S/he will oversee one or more specific matched savings programs. S/he will build a portfolio of matched savings account clients, covering a specific geographic territory, by developing and executing a community partner-based outreach strategy. The position is based in San Jose, CA.

Tasks and Responsibilities:
  •     Develop and execute a community-based partnership strategy for outreach and financial education with other non-profits, educational institutions, and other organizations to recruit, train, and support new and enrolled savings program participants;
  •     Oversee specific program budgets and ensuring the quality and quantity of partner services and ensuring timely and accurate payment based on operating or grant agreements;
  •     Full cycle coordination of financial education classes managing attendance and follow-up;
  •     Proactively recruit new participants for the savings program;
  •     Manage and conduct orientations at community partner sites;
  •     Interface with interested applicants and manage applicants and inquiries on a regular basis via phone, email or in person;
  •     Provide monthly case management follow up with clients in the program;
  •     Counsel participants on withdrawals and the necessary process and procedures;
  •     Provide referrals and advice for specific goals as well as other needed services;
  •     Possess at least one area of technical competency, as necessary to provide direct, high quality, and impactful consultation to clients, including:
  •         Credit and ChexSystems reports;
  •         Financial and credit coaching;
  •         Local social services agencies for client referrals and partnerships;
  •         College costs, financing options, and financial aid requirements.

Qualifications:
  •     Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Psychology, Social Work or Education;
  •     More than 3 years’ experience providing direct client service to a low-income population, preferably as a counselor, case manager or coach; More than 1 year experience in public speaking, outreach and client recruitment, and/or working in partnership with other organizations to achieve a common goal;
  •     Demonstrated ability to successfully promote and achieve successful adoption of social or financial services;
  •     Excellent organization and attention to detail in a multi-tasking, fast environment;
  •     Comfortable working with Excel and databases;
  •     Deep knowledge of resources and services available in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties;
  •     Availability to work some evenings and saturdays and travel to sites around the Bay Area;
  •     Fluent in Spanish.
