About the Job:
ACCION USA is seeking a Communications Intern. S/he will be responsible for marketing asset management and creation, marketing and communications support, media relations, and event support. The position is based in New York.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  •     Write and update compelling borrower profiles to be used to build organization’s borrower profile library;
  •     Assist with in-house design projects for web and print, such as email newsletters, flyer creation, template updates, branded images (such as headers and banners) etc.;
  •     Assist with the creation of presentations and informational packets on organization for thought leadership opportunities and fundraising purposes;
  •     Update marketing assets in Adobe InDesign as needed.
  •     Provide support with online marketing and communications including email and mailings, social media (particularly Twitter), and blogging;
  •     Support publicity activities by helping to prepare promotions toolkits, and proactively uncovering opportunities for media coverage and awareness.
  •     Monitor organization's and industry media coverage daily, archives, and distribute summaries to members and management;
  •     Event support for organization's national partnerships in over 15 cities across the U.S. including coordination of logistics and production on venue, catering, and other details;
  •     Support with data entry, compiling of event reports, survey data, and evaluations in the form of excel data and graphs.

Qualifications:

  •     Bilingual in English and Spanish;
  •     Interest in microfinance, small business, community development and/or social change movements and keep up-to-date on topics and trends;
  •     Ability to complete basic design tasks using Photoshop and InDesign;
  •     Experience updating websites through CMS. Knowledge of Drupal a plus;
  •     Strong writing skills and ability to adapt messages and writing style for a variety of audiences and mediums.
