 About the Organization:
Truelift is a global initiative to renew focus on the pro-poor objective of microfinance. It is administratively housed at the Microcredit Summit Campaign in Washington DC. It provides a framework, learning environment, and recognition, advocates for a pro-poor agenda in microfinance, and focuses a lens of poverty on other initiatives. It also aligns profitability with the social inclusion of people living in poverty and simplifies and works within existing frameworks to remain manageable and efficient.

About the Job:
Truelift is seeking an unpaid Programs Intern. S/he will perform a variety of tasks to support program related activities of the initiative, including research and tracking for development activities and organization's assessments, coordination of meetings and events, and work on special projects as needed. S/he will support the senior program associate and the director of the Microcredit Summit Campaign who are both Chicago-based, as well as the organization's director who is based in Fort Collins, Colorado. This position is based in Chicago.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

•     Research poverty-focused microfinance practitioners, researchers, and academics, as well as microfinance initiatives focused on microfinance monitoring and evaluation;
•     Track and report on research to organization's staff;
•     Identify and assist with special projects as needed;
•     Support conference call coordination for the organization's steering and technical committees, as well as the coordination of community of practice events.

Qualifications:

•     Undergraduate junior or senior or Graduate student;
•     Excellent research skills and ability to track and report findings;
•     Knowledge of microfinance industry actors and initiatives highly desirable;
•     Fluency in spoken and written English required. P proficiency in multiple languages a plus (Spanish, French, Arabic, Russian);
•     Start-up experience a plus.
