About the Job:

Opportunity Fund is seeking a Marketing and Communications Associate. S/he will assist in the four essential functions of project management, graphic design, storytelling, and online marketing that support organization’s fundraising goals marketing to existing and prospective donors. S/he will report to the marketing and communications director. The position is based in San Francisco with regular trips to San Jose.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  •     Project management (35%):
  •         Provide day-to-day project management for fundraising campaigns and key communications pieces (annual report, newsletters, etc.);
  •         Write/edit copy and manage assets (photos, video, etc.) for fundraising campaigns and communications pieces.
  •     Graphic design (40%):
  •         Help to define and agree upon value proposition, key messages; then interpret visually;
  •         Create visuals to support organization's presentations (using Powerpoint or Prezi).
  •     Storytelling and client relations (10%):
  •         Manage story, photo, and video collection of clients who agree to be share their story on organization's website, in email newsletters, or elsewhere;
  •         Identify clients and then interview clients (located throughout Bay Area). (Occasional (rare) travel to Los Angeles may also be required).
  •     Social and online marketing (15%)
  •         Manage and update content on organization's website;
  •         Create and manage content for organization's pages on social networking sites.

Qualifications:

  •     Bachelor’s degree;
  •     Minimum 4 years work experience;
  •     Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
  •     Demonstrated aptitude to learn new skills quickly;
  •     Superior writing and analytic skills;
  •     Strong interviewing skills;
  •     Basic video editing skills (iMovie);
  •     Advanced Adobe Illustrator skills;
  •     Advanced Photoshop skills;
  •     Cultural sensitivity and awareness;
  •     Availability to work some evenings and occasional saturdays;
  •     Fluency in Spanish highly preferred;
  •     Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle a must (mileage reimbursed).
